Course Overview

AI is all around you: in the videos your apps recommend, the voice assistant that answers your questions, and the tools that can write a story or draw a picture from a sentence. In this course you will learn to spot AI, understand how it learns from data to make predictions, and see why it sometimes gets things wrong.

Each lesson mixes short readings with quick quizzes and written reflections. Your answers are saved in your browser as you go, and in Lesson 5 you can copy or download everything you wrote as a workbook to hand in or keep.

This is the self-guided version of the instructor-led What is AI? workshop. It covers the same content, so you can use it in class, at home, or to catch up on a workshop you missed.

How it works

  • Work through the lessons in order. Each one takes 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Answer the quizzes honestly. You can always try again, and every answer comes with an explanation.
  • Mark each lesson complete when you finish so you can pick up where you left off.
  • You do not need any special software, and you never need to create an account.
